Finally, a contemporary replacement for the very popular and formerly widely used BR 78 comes in the form of a new design from PIKO - and with it the first steam locomotive in the Expert product line. The model hangs the established standard of the Expert range a little higher. Nearly all lines were made free-standing, driver´s cab, water boxes and smoke box are decorated with finest reproductions of the rivet heads. Wheelset stars and steering system could be made extremely filigree due to the materials used. The five-pole PIKO motor with flywheel mass provides excellent driving characteristics. Additional weights in the boiler and two traction tires ensure high tractive effort. Thanks to the modern PluX22 interface, retrofitting a decoder is child´s play. A loudspeaker and a smoke set can also be retrofitted with minimal effort. The direction-dependent lighting in LED design ensures an authentic operating atmosphere.
